This 190 square meter loft is located on the fourth floor of a historic industrial building dating back to 1905. It features two bedrooms with walk-in closets, a spacious, open living and dining area, a custom kitchen with bar, a spa with bathtub and heated floors, and a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The bedrooms are equipped with luxurious Coco-Mat beds, and throughout the loft there are works of art by Markus Lüpertz, curated by the Anna Jill Lüpertz Gallery. This spacious and inviting retreat offers a comfortable home away from home. INTERIOR DESIGN The interior combines minimalist accents with industrial elements such as high vaulted ceilings and exposed steel beams that reflect the history of the building. A contemporary touch is introduced through clean lines and a balanced mix of modern and vintage furniture pieces, including chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a 1930s Bauhaus desk, bedside tables and a coffee table by Maison Jansen, and Bocci wall lights. The neutral color palette emphasizes the architectural features, while the sculptural bar in the kitchen serves as a unique focal point. A visually striking partition wall, designed by artist Markus Keibel, acts as a room divider and cleverly conceals a hidden door to the second bedroom. Every area, from the living room to the bedroom, is thoughtfully designed for functionality and comfort. MATERIALS & DETAILS Dark oak floors contrast with light clay plaster walls, adding depth to the space. The stainless steel Bulthaup kitchen features a sculptural, custom-made copper bar and brass shelves finished with blue-tinted glass. In the dining area, the partition wall by Markus Keibel not only serves as a stylish design element, but also cleverly conceals the access to the second bedroom. The dining chairs by Galvanitas and the 1950s chandelier by Stilnovo add an elegant touch to the dining area. In the bathroom, a harmonious combination of tinted glass, travertine and cherry wood creates a balanced and elegant look. Wooden stools and side tables by the Allen Kaufmann architectural firm add further artisanal details to the space. In the future, how and where will we live and work? The topic of sustainable real estate development has long been a focus of Elke Bokelmann and Olaf Minkus. Conserving recources, using climate-positive materials, upcycling, recycling, maintaining biodiverse habitats and supporting artisanal work, together with a high sensibility for aesthetics.
Stadtflucht purchases and rents apartments in old, sometimes ruined buildings and restores them in symbiosis with the environment and historic preservation. Bokelmann and Minkus renew the old, consciously transfer history into the present and curate visionary interiors, considering sustainability to the greatest possible extent.
Bokelmann and Minkus represent the values of an open and free society that emphasises diversity and inclusion. Their diversity is reflected in the design of their spaces, which are accessible and welcoming to all people.
